But most people when travelling to Kashmir, just visit the valley but the state has a lot of other mind blowing places to offer such as Leh-Ladakh, Jammu etc. Planning your trip to Kashmir is really important if you want to make the most of your trip and want to visit the length and breadth of this beautiful state. Explore the beauty of Leh Ladakh:
If you’re starting from Delhi, take a flight directly to Leh. As Leh is at the altitude of 15000fts, you’ll need to stay in your hotel room for a day to adapt to the climate and the altitude. In Leh, you can visit various monasteries to explore the Buddhist culture of the region. The following day, you can start your journey to the Nubra Valley and witness the sheer beauty of the cold desert. If you are an adventure junkie, rent a bike and drive to the world’s highest motorable road the ‘Khar Dung La Pass’. Also, visit the famous pristine blue Pangong Lake which is absolutely mesmerizing. On the way to the Pangong Lake, you’ll cross the ‘Chang La Pass’ where you will see some picturesque landscapes.
Visit the Kargil war memorial
After completing the Ladakh region, you can start your journey towards Srinagar, the capital of Jammu and Kashmir. The journey takes around two days. The way to Srinagar from Leh is extremely beautiful and the sceneries on way would etch in your memory forever. On the way, you’ll cross numerous monasteries. You’ll also get to see the famous magnetic hill and the moon-land. The first night you will spend your night in the city of Kargil. Kargil doesn’t have a lot of places to offer to the tourist but it has the 1999 Kargil war memorial. The memorial portrays the struggle and valor of the Indian Army during the 1999 Kargil war, fought between India and Pakistan.
Spend some time in Srinagar
On the way to Srinagar, you’ll cross the beautiful meadows of Sonamarg, where you can enjoy a delicious breakfast while enjoying the beautiful view. You will reach Srinagar by the afternoon and you can check into your hotel. In the evening you can walk along the Dal lake and enjoy the mouth-watering Kashmiri cuisine. The following day, you can go for the Srinagar sightseeing, like Chasme Badoor, Dal Lake and the beautiful Kashmiri gardens.
Take a trip to Jammu
After completing the Kashmir valley region, you can continue your journey to the Jammu region of the state. Jammu is not so beautiful as Kashmir. In Jammu, you can go for the famous, Vaishno Devi Yatra. You don’t have to be religious for the hike, the trail to the shrine is amazing and you will never forget the beauty.
